Go get tacos now! Terrapin makes some damn tasty food, with everything done in their kitchen fresh. The chips and salsa were addictive even if the chips were a bit on the greasy side. That salsa - wow. I had the fried mahi tacos which were superb. Generous portions, fresh ingredients, great flavors in all the food we tried. Just note that you might have to wait but trust me, it's worth it! And don't go on Tuesdays as they're closed. But go now!

EAT THESE TACOS! We grabbed some take-out here before Blues on the Block, and everyone (even my picky mother who does NOT do take out) really enjoyed their food. The shrimp tacos and burritos were loaded with shrimp. The panko avocado was really tasty. PLEASE EAT HERE so that it will be around next summer and I can eat there again. Their hours are a little wonky, so you may want to call ahead. They are cash - only and BYOB with a great view of the harbor, next to the book store/post office.

Terrapin is closed; I'm not sure why they have not updated this page. Calavares is now there instead. We did not eat at Calavares because there weren't near the vegetarian options that Terrapin seemed to offer.

Tasty tacos and friendly folks. Glad this is on the island, as it adds some much needed variety to the general cuisine. Having spent many years visiting, I'm glad it's around. No complaints other than a dry / stale tortilla, which wasn't the best, but the fillings were great.

This is going to be short and sweet. Simply put this place is AMAZING. Dan the Chef is an easygoing passionate man who has poured his soul into these little tacos from heaven. Try the blackened mahi taco. Try the Panko avocado taco! Oh and just so your aware you can mix and match to your hearts content! If you have packed yourself full of fresh seafood and need a refreshing break. This is the SPOT! If you arrive on any one of the many ferries a day, you should be the first one off and grab one of these tacos. Don't walk, RUN.

Had the mahi mahi and a shrimp taco. Very good, nicely spiced and the salsa was great. Very cool place to chill and grab some good food at great price. Service was friendly. They only use sustainable produce as well as humane meat with no hormones. The food reflects their philosophy. Excellent place to eat on block island. CASH ONLY BYOB

Great spot! We had the Baja tacos (mahi mahi and shrimp). They were great! Really good salsa. The staff was super nice and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Good prices for Block Island. We would definitely go back.

BEST TACOS AND NACHOS EVAHHHH! Probably the best Mexican fusion-style food I have ever had in quite some time. It was refreshing and atypical than what I have had in the past when ordering tacos and nachos. The flavor combinations are so delicious with incredibly fresh ingredients. It is a little pricey but the portions are hearty; they feed you here. All the meals are made to order....nothing sitting under a heat lamp. Expect it to be busy and you will wait a bit to be served. That being said, it is well worth wait and the money. I will come back here again and again....I hope this is a lasting establishment here on the island.

A lovely place with eclectic interior and many options (vegan, vegetarian too). They try to charge extra dollar for a gluten-free tortilla even though the corn ones are already gluten free. Otherwise everything was fresh and delicious!!!!

My husband and I literally stumbled upon Terrapin Tacos when we were returning our car to the harbor before heading for our ferry. I had seen their menu in one of the local coffee shops and didn't see an address on it so was happy to find it. It is located across from the Old Harbor up on the hill (past the Rebecca statue) and had outdoor seating which we took advantage of on the sunny afternoon. The inside had ample seating and was decorated was a mixture of Mexican, Grateful Dead, and Classic Rock decor. The staff was very friendly and food came out to us quick. We had tacos: I had both the Stagger Lee (Poki-style fish) and the Cosmic Charlie (Panko encrusted avocado wedges). I enjoyed them both. I had been craving a fish taco and the the Stagger Lee hit the spot. My husband had the Jack Straw (Grilled Lime Chicken), Cosmic Charlie and finished off with the Stagger Lee. He was not impressed with the Jack Straw. I am not sure it is was because he didn't want the sauce it comes with since it contains cilantro which he doesn't like. He said he enjoyed the Cosmic Charlie and wished he had ordered two of the Stagger Lee's instead of having the Jack Straw. I wish that they had some type of fresh juice or tea like jamaica (hibiscus). I guess maybe I just wanted to see what "Dead" name they would give it. If you are ever on Block Island, it is well worth the stop to try Terrapin Tacos.

I spent two weeks working on the island and I tried just about every restaurant. This was one of my favorite lunch choices. The Panko Avocado and grilled chicken tacos were awesome. The fresh salsa was great too. Although the weather wasn't great the day I ate there, I can imagine on a hot summer day this place would really hit the spot. The sign on the door says BYOB and they take cash only.

Went to Block Island on 9/30 - stopped here at this taco place-also went to Three Sisters sandwich place - rude attitude with them girls. Taco had Great Great food with really good taste. Ordered the blackened fish taco and also the veggie taco. Both very well done - and superb flavor. Hurry, because they close for the season on Sept 20. Friendly staff and quite a nice atmosphere.

We had the best tacos and burritos here! The homemade hot sauce is delicious. The fish is fresh, line caught daily and all the meat is free range and antibiotic free. The staff great and they are very kid friendly! Highly recommend going here to eat.

Was looking forward to trying this place out after hearing such good things about it. They did not disappoint. We got a grilled shrimp burrito & a blackened chicken burrito and both were beyond good. Huge portions for a great price. You could tell all of the ingredients were really fresh and the salsa was spot on. The shop had a great vibe & there were tables both inside and out, with really nice views of the water. Will definitely go back!
